Who We Are

BOOKS for the BARRIOS (BftB) is an all volunteer non-profit organization that began in 1981 and operates out of its headquarters in the San Francisco East Bay, in Concord, Northern California.

BftB aims to improve the quality of education for underprivileged youth in deprived communities around the world with our focus being on deprived, depressed regions in the Philippines. Through our powerful, effective and culturally sensitive programs we continue to empower American children to be leaders in the global community and give the gift of education to millions of children.

How you can help

The programs at Books for the Barrios have been made possible through volunteer efforts throughout the community. We are always looking for more volunteers to help us through our journey of educating these underprivileged kids in the Philippines. If you are available to volunteer, please contact us at (925)-687-7701 for more details. You will help make a difference in the lives of millions of children, and help improve the environment at the same time. You will get back in gratification as much as you give in time and effort.

We also accept book donations from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Mondays through Fridays. Stop by 2350 Whitman Road, Concord, CA if you have any used books you would like to donate!
